About
The Midwestern is a blog. Or… a weblog, if you prefer. It is entirely written by me, Jonathan Buys. I write from my home office in a small town in Iowa, surrounded by cornfields and a twenty-minute drive from anything remotely considered urban.
It’s hosted on Manton Reece’s Micro.blog service, written in Rich Siegel’s BBEdit, and managed with Daniel Jalkut’s MarsEdit. All of which are excellent examples of good software.
Speaking of which, that’s what this site is intended to be about. Things that are good. Sadly, too many things in our lives are of poor quality, from the software we endure to the appliances we replace on a regular basis. Sometimes it can be hard to find things that are worth the price, good things that will last and are pleasant to use. I’ll try to collect those good things that I find here.
I’m also a technologist, sometimes developer, husband and father, and outdoors enthusiast. If you tend to enjoy the same things I do, then I think you’ll like following along as I build something new. Something, I hope, good.
